A new year means looking at the world in an entirely new and different way. If you’re tired of looking at the same old colours in your home, there’s no need to dig through interior design websites finding the latest designs with expensive price tags. Instead of looking at what the rich and the famous are doing, take a look at the stars for inspiration. Consider using your zodiac sign to decorate your home.
Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th)
Capricorns are organised, focused, and like formality and tradition with a little flair to show their fun side. Consider pairing shades of brown with wood and leather, together with highlights of brass. If you’re designing a home office or den, consider a nice oak, mahogany, or cherry wood desk and an understated but comfortable chair. Keep the lamps and accessories simple and efficient. Everything should have a purpose and it should have a place. But there should be one thing – a cosy reading chair, or a brightly coloured blanket with reds, oranges, or navy blue. The important thing is to keep it neat, functional, with just a splash of something wild.
Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th)
Aquarians are perhaps the most quixotic of the water signs. You’ll tend to like simple lines and streamlined function. Traditional décor will be too odious and restrictive for your tastes. Open floor plans, natural light, and very little clutter will serve you best. Your bedroom might have a bed with an understated headboard of wood or metal, a simple table with room for a reading lamp and a phone charging station. A matching wardrobe or small chest of drawers, and a well-organised closet. As a water sign, you’ll most likely have blankets and pillow covers in blue, green, or silver.
Pisces (February 19th – March 20th)
Although it’s also a water sign, Pisceans run the gamut between soft and gentle, forceful and vengeful. Pisceans embody the power and flexibility of the oceans. Water can fill a glass or it can destroy a city. It can refresh or be corrosive. As such, you should let yourself go when deciding how to decorate for a Piscean. A comfortable chair, a soft blanket and a nice lamp, surrounded by books and mementos of past adventures are a good start. Lots of natural light and colours ranging from blue and green to red and purple.
Aries (March 21–April 19)
Aries is ruled by Mars. Don’t be afraid to embrace crimsons, reds, and oranges when looking your décor. People born under the sign of Aries have a lot of flair and aren’t scared to show it. But they don’t tolerate things being out of order or being unnecessary. Build around whatever the function of the space is, but don’t wash the space out in dull colours. If you’re decorating a dining room, consider a crimson table cloth and window dressings, with similarly coloured highlights around the room. Find a grand lighting fixture that will cause your guests to stop in awe of the space they are about to enter.
Taurus (April 20–May 20)
People born under the sign of Taurus like material wealth and the arts. The finer life for them is as much about showing off as it is being comfortable. Persian rugs, silver and brass fixtures, and contemporary art on the walls are the kinds of things you should be looking at. Fine leather furniture, trinkets and decorations that can start conversations. This will allow you to show off your considerable knowledge and experience.
Gemini – (May 21 – June 21)
The people who born within this time are gentle, affection to others, curious to new things and quickly adaptable to surroundings. They have the ability to learn quickly and exchange their ideas with similar minded people. As a Gemini they are always ready for fun but when they’re restless they can be pretty serious. They want to experience everything available out there.
Cancer – (June 21 – July 22)
Basically, the most challenging zodiac sign to deal with. Their mood swings are a thing to be worried about. They are emotionally sensitive. They always take good care of their co-workers and treat them as one of the family members. They help other people and always try to avoid conflicts.
Leo – (July 23 -August 22)
As a Leo they are passionate and creative. Warm heated, humorous and cheerful to everything they do. They are also known to be arrogant and stubborn. Once a Leo gets upset with something or someone it’s almost impossible to change his/her mind. They don’t like being ignored but enjoy being admired. They are dominant and ignore their problems.
Virgo – (August 23 – September 22)
Virgos are the most hardworking people you will ever see. They pay attention to every single detail and even the smallest one. If your girl is a Virgo then you can be sure that she is a loyal one. They are pretty shy and their self-respect is high. They don’t like asking for help or taking the centre stage in front of everyone.
Libra – (September 23 – October 22)
Libra are the most diplomatic people out there. They are pretty fair-minded and cooperative. Their main priority is to find a compatible life partner. They are fun and are always willing to help, which makes them great friends.
Scorpio – (October 23 – November 21)
A Scorpio never steps down from any problem. They are very brave and passionate. They are stubborn as well which is why they don’t like dishonest people or revealing secrets. They are one of the best friends you can have as their trust is based on facts and they won’t judge you for anything. They are very good at solving problems. Sagittarius – (November 22 – December 21)
Sagittarius are the extrovert people who don’t talk much but when you get to know them they’re fun to talk to and generous as well. They have a great sense of humour so you can talk about anything with them. They love freedom and travelling. They always try to deliver more than they actually can. They are very optimistic and enthusiastic.
This is a new sign we’re hearing about over the last few months. There is no exact details on this but the world we live in supports the rule of twelve so there is no chance of getting another zodiac sign. Though the moon circles us 13 times in the same period.
