Following and maintaining good hygiene standards is also important for your surroundings. Nobody likes to interact with a man who emits bad odor or looks shabby. Men who smell pleasant are also more desirable by women.

It is easier for some men to understand the concept of personal care for better health, but for others, the idea is still new. They either don’t pay heed to self-grooming or are in a rush, often resulting in hygiene hiccups.

You are often exposed to viruses and bacteria around you and can get into mild or serious illnesses. However, incorporating cleanliness in your everyday life will reduce the risk of getting infected with diseases.

1. CHANGE YOUR BLADES

Since the purchase of razor blade cartridges can be quite expensive, men tend to extend the use of a single blade for over a week. It is pertinent to replace the razor blade after using it 3-4 times. You can switch to the old-school single-use blades if you find changing blades frequently expensive.

After each use, the blade must be sterilized. This can be done using a liquid disinfectant or dipping the razor in warm soapy water. Disinfecting the razor will ensure the removal of bacteriasticking to it, thus saving your skin from horrible breakout spells.

2. WEAR A DEODORANT

Wearing a deodorant or antiperspirant should be the primary part of your dressing up. Sweating underarms produce bacteria that are responsible for bad odor. Using deodorant or antiperspirant helps to get rid of the odor and dries up perspiration. Use a decent fragrance to keep smelling fresh all day long.

3. ORAL HYGIENE

Oral hygiene is all about taking care of your mouth. The mouth is the main source of entry for the bacteria, which is why you must keep it clean at all times. Regular brushing and flossing ensure there is no plaque or food in your teeth. Always use a mouthwash to avoid bad breath issues.

4. CHANGE YOUR UNDERWEAR

Whatever you choose as your innerwear, boxer, or briefs, they have to be the most comfortable men’s underwear. Undergarments that are too tight will restrict the entrance of airand might give you an itch. It may also create an undue smell leading to uneasiness.

Also, it is extremely important to change your underwear daily. According to health experts, men who don’t change their undergarments every day are more likely to get fungal infections, leading to further discomfort.

5. TAKE A SHOWER 

Ideally, showering once every day washes down body fluids that are responsible for bad odor and other mild health issues. However, if you are someone who sweats more or is involved in physical activities all day, you may shower twice a day. This is to keep the germs, dirt, and bacteria away, and it also helps to remove dead cells from the skin.

Every time you go for a run, workout, cycle, etc., make sure to take a shower immediately and wash the germs away.

6. CLIP YOUR NAILS

Most men clip their fingernails, but they often tend to ignore their toenails. Long nails may accumulate dirt and dust. Trimming your toe and fingernails should be your topmost priority to maintain cleanliness and save your nails from potential damage.

7. KEEP SKIN CLEAN

Your facial skin is uncovered, and so it is exposed to dirt, smoke, pollution, and harmful bacteria. To keep your skin clean and normalize its pH level, your need to pay that extra attention to your skincare. For this purpose, wash your face at least twice a day with a facial cleanser appropriate for your skin type.

8. SEND AWAY ‘BACKNE’

‘Bacne’ here refers to acne on the back. It is experienced by a lot of men and is caused by the accumulation of sweat, overactive oil glands, and dead skin cells. Men who face ‘bacne’ should scrub their back using a loofah with a long handle that can reach the back.

9. SCALP AND HAIR CARE

Men have weaker scalp as compared to women and are more likely to face dandruff issues. Dermatologists and stylists believe that washing your hair daily may deprive them of the essential oils and cause breakage and damage. Experts suggest shampooing hair and scalp three times a week to keep them clean. 

Flaky pieces of dandruff sticking to your dark-colored suits is often seen as a sign of poor head and scalp hygiene and makes any man look highly unattractive. So just be extra careful.

10. NOSE AND SINUSES

Keeping your nose and sinuses clean is of prime importance. Sinuses and nose hair dock bacteria that can cause infections. Unclean sinuses are inflamed, and it can drip the excessive mucus in the back of your mouth, causing foul-smelling ‘sinus breath’ and other health issues.

Sinuses can be cleaned using decongestants or by gargling with comfortably hot water. Some people also use a nasal spray where water is flushed to clear the nasal passage.

It is also essential to trim your nose hair. Invest in a beard trimmer that has an attachment to trim your nose hair and make it a habit to trim them weekly. It is a really nasty sight to see hair popping out of the nose touching your upper lip!
