I’m going to provide you some tips on how you can care for your mattress.
Rotate Your Mattress
The first thing that you should do every 6 months is to rotate your mattress. As a result of doing this, you will be sleeping on different parts of the mattress which evens out the pressure. This should extend the life of your mattress.
Use a Mattress Protector
This is a simple but effective way to care for your mattress, buy a mattress protector. They are great for keeping your mattress fresh and free from stains! We bought one a few years back and our mattress is still in really good condition as a result.
Wash Your Mattress Cover
For some mattresses the cover is removable. If this is the case for yours, then you should give the cover a wash every so often to keep it fresh. If you don’t have a removable cover then you can simply hoover your mattress but it’s always best to check the label for any special instructions you need to take into account!
Let it Breathe
You should let your mattress breathe every day by fully ventilating your bedroom. It is also recommended that a slatted base is used to further increase the breathability of the mattress.
Eradicate Bad Odours
If there are any bad odours lingering on your mattress, there is a way to get rid of the bad smell! Sprinkle baking soda onto the mattress and wait 20 minutes. Then vacuum the baking soda up and enjoy a much fresher nights sleep!
Ensure Your Mattress has Good Support
In order for your mattress to last well and more importantly keep you sleeping well, it needs to have a good strong base to sit on. It’s crucial that you have a sturdy bed with strong centre support so the mattress doesn’t bow.
