The national lockdown is starting to take a toll on many of us. Our feet are starting to itch and the walls are stating to close in all around us. We’re reaching a level of boredom that all the streaming services and video games in the world cannot sate. We’re starting to yearn for a face to face with our friends, our work colleagues, heck- even our bosses! We know that the lockdown is in place to protect our NHS and ease the pressure on vaillant frontline workers. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t taking a toll on our wellbeing.
Still, instead of bemoaning all the things we can’t go, the experiences we can’t enjoy and the places we can’t visit, let’s take a moment to appreciate the things that we can do and how they can bring us satisfaction, fulfilment and happiness…
Find fulfilling work
Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to work from home. Some of us haven’t even been put on furlough by our employers. There are many who’ve been let go and may be struggling with the new status quo. Still, that doesn’t mean that you can’t find fulfilling work from home. Indeed, now might be the perfect time to turn your talents to freelancing. There are many industries for whom it’s business as usual. Make sure you and your skills are visible to them by registering on sites like Fiverr, Freelancer.com and People Per Hour. You can find a great list of freelancing sites here.
Visit your kids
The lockdown is especially trying for Dads who are separated from their kids. But don’t let anyone tell you that you’re unable to see your kids while the lockdown is in place. According to government guidelines, divorced and separated parents can still have access to their children… so long as they take appropriate precautions, of course.
Buy a new car
Most of us aren’t using our cars all that much. But if you need to get around but don’t trust your current vehicle, you can still buy a new car according to Autotrader. There are numerous finance Options for buying a new car. There are sellers who can deliver vehicles to your door and ensure that the cabin and keys are thoroughly disinfected so you can drive with peace of mind. If you have less than stellar credit, you can still get car finance while under lockdown, too.
Revitalise your wardrobe
As tempting as it is to lounge around in joggers and a t shirt all day, it’s better for your mental health and morale if you dress to impress… even if it’s just to impress yourself! Maybe now’s the time to treat yourself to some online shopping and revitalise your wardrobe.
Dine like royalty
Finally, one good thing about the lockdown is that it’s gotten us used to cooking from scratch and squeezing every penny out of our food budgets. Still, that doesn’t mean that we can’t treat ourselves once in a while. In fact, you can help your favourite local restaurants out a great deal by placing the occasional order on Deliveroo or Uber Eats.
Show the, your love by giving yourself a treat!
