4 Reasons Why You Can’t Break Free From an Irregular Sleep Pattern

We all know how important it is to achieve a regular amount of restful sleep so that you can function properly throughout the day and enjoy a good level of physical and mental wellbeing.

However, some of us really struggle to manage a regular sleep pattern. This can create all sorts of problems when you suffer from an irregular sleep pattern, so what causes this problem?

It can be any number of factors and underlying issues that are impacting your sleep pattern. You can promote feelings of relaxation by using products such as CBD gummies, for instance, which could help. It can also help if you can identify some of the primary reasons why your sleep pattern has become so irregular.

It is all about your circadian rhythm

Your circadian rhythm is absolutely fundamental to your ability to achieve a normal sleep pattern.

In general terms, your circadian rhythm describes how your body is designed to respond to the light and dark as we go through the night and day. It is your internal body clock that regulates your mood, your physical wellbeing, and how you behave.

The system is naturally designed to control a number of specific processes that all combine to help you regulate when you sleep.

If your circadian rhythm has gone out of sync you will need to try and commit to waking at the same time every day for a period of time so that you can reset your body’s natural body clock.

Is your work pattern a problem?

Another reason why you might suffer from an irregular sleep pattern is when you are working shifts that are unsociable hours such as nights, or your shifts can vary from week to week.

If you are consistently working night shifts you will often find that this will adjust and impact your circadian rhythm and you may have to find a way of getting your body to respond to a pattern that is not a natural day and night routine.

Look after your health

There is a very clear link between poor health and irregular sleep habits.

If you are overweight or suffer from obesity or diabetes, for example, these are health factors that can impact your ability to enjoy consistent and regular sleep.

High levels of blood sugar will not help your ability to sleep and the key to unlocking a good sleep pattern can often be a health profile that helps your body to rest properly.

Aim to improve your overall health where you can and it should prove to be a positive influence on your sleep pattern.

Improve your sleep environment

You also need an environment that is conducive to achieving a good night’s sleep.

Take a look at your sleep environment and see if you are giving your body the best chance to fall into a regular sleep pattern each night.

Ditch the electronic devices in the bedroom as they can keep you awake and don’t look at any sort of screen for at least an hour before you go to bed. Also, make sure your bedroom is nice and cool, makes you feel comfortable, and is dark enough to help you sleep more easily.
