How to Incorporate Black Diesel Marijuana into Edibles

Here we will go over how to incorporate black diesel marijuana into edibles.

Black diesel is a multi-cannabis cup award-winning strain, well-loved for its uplifting and energizing effects. The strain generally produces quite a bit of trichomes and a fruity, tropical flavor. Therefore, back diesel is perfect for edibles consumed during the day.

Let’s jump right in.

What is Decarboxylation

If you are familiar with edibles and how they work, you may already know that cannabis needs to be decarbed (decarboxylated) before adding it to your recipes.

Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group from a material and releases carbon dioxide. You decarb marijuana by heating it to roughly 230℉ for about one hour. During the decarboxylation process, cannabinoids like THC, CBD, and CBN are activated and released from their acid state.

How to Decarb Your Marijuana

There are many ways to decarb marijuana, but the most popular are the oven and slow cooker methods.

Keep in mind that black diesel has a %19 THC level. For many consumers, this THC level is considered moderate to high, so you should add decarb or cannabutter to your recipes according to your tolerance. You can learn more about black diesel at Marijuanadoctors.com.

Oven Method

For the oven method, you will need:

  • An oven
  • An oven thermometer
  • Parchment paper
  • A baking tray
  • Bud or trim
  1. Preheat your oven to 230℉
  2. Line your baking tray with parchment paper and evenly spread your bud or trim on top.
  3. Bake for one hour, stirring it and checking the temperature occasionally.

Slow Cooker Method

For the slow cooker method, you will need:

  • A slow cooker
  • A waterproof jar with a tight lid
  1. Fill your jar with cannabis or trim and screw the lid on tight, then place it in the slow cooker.
  2. Fill the slow cooker halfway with water and turn it on high.
  3. Let the cannabis cook for four hours. Using oven mitts, remove the cannabis every hour, shake the jar, and put it back.

Once your marijuana is decarbed, you can either use it as is or make cannabutter.

Black diesel marijuana is great in baked goods, which may require cannabutter.

To make cannabutter, do the following:

  1. On the stove top, melt one cup of butter mixed with one cup of water
  2. Once melted, add your decarbed cannabis
  3. Simmer the mixture at 160℉ for 2-3 hours
  4. Using a cheesecloth or mesh strainer, strain the cannabis bits from the butter.
  5. Place the butter in the fridge until it hardens.
  6. Separate the butter from the water and toss the water.

Black Diesel Edible Ideas

You can turn any food into an edible by simply replacing butter or oil with cannabutter. If your recipe requires you to cook with the butter, keep the temperature under 350℉ to avoid losing potency.

Cannabis teas are easy to make and require a small amount of herb or trim, and since black diesel carries fruity flavors, it infuses nicely into tea.

You can make canna-tea by steeping the decarbed cannabis into hot water or adding cannabutter to your tea like creamer. Orange, raspberry, and lavender tea bags work well with black diesel.

Fruit Pastries

Pastries are another fruity edible that pairs well with black diesel.

Replace butter for cannabutter in your favorite pastry recipe and prepare and bake as normal.

You can incorporate more cannabutter into your recipe by making a buttery fruit reduction sauce to place on top of the pastries.

Some people want the benefits of edibles without the snack part of the deal. If this is the case for you, consider purchasing empty pill capsules and filing them with dry decarb.

Brownies are one of the most popular edible options because the chocolate does a great job masking any lingering plant flavor. Some smokers pick up light fuel flavors when smoking black diesel. If you are one of those people, brownies might be a great edible choice.

Like the pastries, simply replace butter with cannabutter and bake as recommended.

Savory Meals

Although edibles are most commonly associated with sweets, they can be incorporated into salty or savory dishes as well.

Consider a pot roast, stir fry, garlic butter pizza, or macaroni and cheese.

If you want an edible but don’t want to spend time cooking, you can just butter a piece of toast.
