What to look for when choosing a boiler installation company

Having a boiler replaced can seem like a massive headache at first. We’ve all heard the horror stories of long waits, high prices and botched jobs, but it absolutely doesn’t have to be like that. If you take the time to choose the right installation company, it can be an absolute breeze, with the job being completed in as short as half a day in some cases. Here’s what to look for when searching for the perfect providers.

Experience

Installing a boiler might seem like a relatively complicated job, but for someone with plenty of experience as a plumber, it should be pretty easy. Look for a company such as Able Plumbers that employs high-quality plumbers with plenty of years of experience under their belt, avoiding companies that predominantly use people fresh out of trade school. Experienced installers will be more likely to do a job that stands the test of time, predicting issues that might arise and helping to mitigate the risk.

Reputation

In the trade world, one of the most important things to go off of is reputation. You’ll want to research the company online, looking for reviews from past customers. Make sure that the majority of those reviews are positive (with big companies there’ll always be a couple of bad ones thrown in) and check that they have plenty of experience installing the brand of boiler you’re having installed. You can also try asking friends and neighbours if they have any recommendations for good local companies.

Insurance and qualifications

If a plumber installs your boiler in the wrong way, the results can be literally catastrophic. The process often involves plumbing in gas, and if a leak were to occur, we don’t need to go into what could happen as a result.

This means that it’s essential to check that your plumber is both qualified and insured. All plumbers are required to be Water Safe and Gas Safe registered, and should also hold insurance so that both sides are protected in the case that something were to go wrong.

Transparent pricing

Installing a boiler can be relatively expensive. That’s to be expected, but it’s important that the company you use is transparent with their pricing. Some companies will seem to offer a good deal at first, but then will introduce a bunch of hidden fees that inflate the end cost. Companies that lack transparency in their pricing will generally have poor reviews, but it’s still important to ask the company to confirm that the quote they’ve given you is all-inclusive.

Warranties

Finally, you need to make sure that the installation comes with some kind of warranty. Things can go wrong, and you don’t want to have to fork out for a second boiler after just a couple of months. While the boiler itself should come with a guarantee, if the error arises as a result of the installation, you want to be sure that the company will fix that for you free of charge within a reasonable time frame of the initial job.

If you take care of the points listed above, you should be able to get your new boiler installed with limited issues. It’s good to get a new boiler before the old one actually breaks – if you’re not sure what kind of condition it’s in, it’s best to have a plumber come round to take a look, so you can see if it’s on its last legs or not.
