Take the hard work out of Autumn gardening tasks.

With its mellow light and glorious colours, your garden in Autumn can be a magical place.  But Autumn is also the best time to prep your garden for the winter months ahead and, eventually, for spring.  As a leading British garden equipment brand for over 60 years, we at Webb have learned a thing or two about gardening and have some top tips for Autumn garden maintenance.

Collecting fallen leaves

Autumnal leaves may look beautiful in their reds and golds, but less so once they hit the ground and turn into a soggy mess.  They can block gutters, cover patios, land on precious plants (potentially rotting perennials), and smother your lawn, turning your grass yellow. Without a doubt, one of the biggest Autumn tasks is clearing away those fallen leaves.

Many of us have probably spent hours with rakes and brooms trying to keep on top of it. This Autumn, it’s time to get away from the manual rigour of clearing leaves. Forget the aching back and shoulders, not to mention the time spent doing a boring, laborious task. Let a battery-powered leaf blower transform an arduous task into a breeze, pun intended!

Ideal for moving fallen leaves into a single pile with minimum effort, the Webb lightweight petrol garden blower and vacuum has a variable airflow of up to 114mph, with a trigger control to quickly and easily shift and then vacuum large piles of damp leaves and clippings or clear flowerbeds without damage to the plants. It gets the job done quickly and easily.

Get hedge ready

You should generally avoid pruning hedges in summer as birds are frequently nesting in them.  By early Autumn, your hedges will therefore need maintenance!  Trimming back hedges in Autumn will help to make life easier in the long run and maintain your hedges’ density and shape.  A lightweight hedge trimmer, such as the Webb Eco Cordless Long Reach Hedge Trimmer can be used to efficiently cut new growth back to the original hedge line.  It features a 50cm cutting length for efficient and precise hedge trimming. The extension pole offers extended reach and adjustability, eliminating the need for additional tools or ladders to access higher or distant hedges comfortably. The 20V 2Ah battery provides up to 40 minutes of cordless operation.

Pruning made easy

When you prune a tree or a shrub will depend on the type of plant, but generally pruning is job for Autumn.  Prune any branches that look damaged, dead, or a bit out of control to keep them healthy and free from infection, as well as looking good.  You could opt for pruning shears, but the lightweight Webb Eco 20V Cordless Pruning Saw makes the job much quicker and easier.  The saw features a 15cm bar length, 4.9m/s chain speed, 0.03 inches chain gauge, and 3/8” chain pitch, ensuring precise and efficient pruning for up to 40 minutes.  And to get to those harder to reach branches, it is available with a telescopic extension pole to provide extended reach from 100cm to 215cm.

Once you’re finished pruning, why not get the kids involved and create a bug ‘shelter’ out of the larger branches.  All you need to do is stack the branches in a corner of the garden and you’ll be giving your valuable garden bugs winter shelter.

Make life easier for yourself!

Gardening is a great way to stay fit (both physically and mentally), and connect with nature around you.  But not all garden tasks are equally enjoyable and, with a young family, not everyone has the time they would like to spend in the garden.  The Webb Eco cordless garden machinery range makes fast work of garden maintenance.  Powered by long-lasting, fast charging 20v Lithium-ion battery technology, there are no electric power cables to get in the way and no petrol to top up.  Plus, it’s a more eco-friendly and cost-efficient alternative to traditional petrol options.

All tools in the Webb Eco range have been designed to be used with the same, easily interchangeable 20v battery, valuable savings can be achieved in running costs.  The Lithium-ion batteries hold their charge and don’t degrade in storage, which is an important consideration for choosing garden tools which may not be used daily.  So, when you get one of those beautiful sunny Autmn days, simply grab your Webb Eco tool from the shed and get gardening!
