Healthy Air Fryer Recipes for the Whole Family

Are you sick and tired of having to wait for the oven to pre-heat and on top of that, having to wait for the food to actually cook through? The solution to your problem is most certainly purchasing an air fryer. I never realised how easy my life would be just by using an air fryer to cook pretty much every day. There are multiple different functions available on the Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer, and the system is very user friendly.

Therefore, even if you might not be a complete tech geek, you will still be able to handle this device and supply your family with nice, aromatic and healthy foods. I will be introducing you to easy and healthy recipes you can easily make with the essential ingredients in your fridge right now.

The air fryer comes in six different cooking functions, and they are:

  • Max crisp – cooks’ food from the freezer and gives off a crispy texture after cooking it in the air fryer
  • Air fry – cooking using super-hot air with little to no oil
  • Dehydrate – enables you to produce dry food snacks such as raisins
  • Roast – Mainly used for creating roast food e.g., roast chicken
  • Bake – cook freshly baked bread along with other treats such as muffins and cupcakes
  • Reheat – resurrecting the missing freshness with just one click of a button

On the Very website, the product is rated a 4.9 stars meaning that customers have given positive reviews! One of the reviewers left the following comment, “I’m really impressed with this item, easy to use, big enough for our family of 4. Easy to clean”. If you are thinking of feeding a large family, this air fryer will do the job, as it can cook a chicken of mass up to 2 kilograms or up to 1.4 kilograms of fries inside the 4.75 litre drawer.

There are many reasons why your food turns out to be healthy, but one of the main reasons is that, although you are frying the food, you are not deep frying with oil like the local chicken shop you would see on the streets, where the food is concentrated with oil, as well as grease. With the air fryer, you can finish your food with using no oil unless you have a preference of adding a small dash of oil, but even the small quantity of oil you put in the fryer will not affect the outcome of the healthiness.

Does the food in your fridge sometimes go to waste? Well, with the air fryer, you can spontaneously cook something quickly and it will go under the category of being healthy, two birds with one stone right.

I could keep talking about how fabulous the air fryer is, but instead let’s get into talking about some recipes you could try out right now as you are reading this blog post. First, let’s start off with Fajitas, because who doesn’t like fajitas.

Recipe #1: Fajitas

  • Chicken breast strips
  • Onions (any colour)
  • Peppers
  • Oil (if you want to add some)
  • Fajita seasoning (mixture of chilli powder, cumin, any type of paprika, black pepper and salt)

  1. Prepare the meat and veggies by cutting them into thin pieces, however, watch out to not cut it too thin, because you could end up burning them during the frying process
  2. Season with oil and fajita seasoning and add to the air fryer
  3. Set it to 200°C for 15mins
  4. If the chicken strip is a bit thick, leave it for another 5 mins
  5. Check if the chicken is cooked through by using a thermometer or by cutting the strip in half and observing if it looks white and has a rough-like texture

Ways to eat:

There are variety of ways to eat the fajita, but I personally like to mix the cooked fajita with garlic flavoured rice. Some honourable mentions are:

  • Stuffing the fajitas in a tortilla wrap
  • Mixing it with salad and adding a wedge of lemon for the zest flavour

Recipe #2Steak

  • Unsalted butter
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Parsley
  • Chives
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Any type of steak (I prefer sirloin)

  1. Mix the Butter, Garlic, Rosemary, Thyme, Parsley and the chives in a bowl and wrap around using a cling film and leave it in fridge until it hardens
  2. Season the steak both side with salt and pepper
  3. Set the air fryer to 200°C and place the steak inside the air fryer and let it heat for 13 mins for a medium. If the steak is too thick, flip halfway
  4. Slice the hardened seasoning and let it rest on top of the cooked steak and serve

Ways to eat:

I particularly like to eat steak by itself, however if you think it will not fill you up, I recommend frying carrot sticks and potatoes (both seasoned with salt and black pepper) in the air fryer.

Recipe #3Broccoli

  • Broccoli cut into florets
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper

  1. Mix the broccoli florets with a little olive oil and minced garlic
  2. Season the broccoli using sea salt and black pepper
  3. Place broccoli in the air fryer whilst setting the machine to 370°C for 10 mins until crisp

Ways to eat:

Broccoli is nice to just nibble if you are not too hungry, on the other hand, if you are thinking of adding this to a meal, then I recommend eating it with roast chicken and potato mixed with gravy sauce.

Using these 3 recipes, why don’t you try making them for yourself using an air fryer.
